A sore throat is a common problem that is unpleasant and painful. It heals on its own without any treatment but there are natural remedies that ease the pain and speed up the recovery. Holy basil is a wonder herb and the tea can be drunk and also used as a gargle to relieve the pain and accelerate recovery. A regular tea can be comforting when having a sore throat and a tea mixed with salt also can be used as a gargle. Tamarind fruit, leaves, and the bark are found to be effective in the treatment of a sore throat. The decoctions can be used as a drink and also as a gargle. Another effective gargle is a decoction made from raspberries. Turmeric mixed in warm water or milk can relieve the itchiness and irritation caused by a sore throat.
